Thomas Hermie

Thomas Hermie is a multilingual tax lawyer in Belgium specialised in VAT, excise duties and fiscal representation.

Mr Thomas Hermie is a tax lawyer specialising in indirect taxes, in particular VAT and excise duties. He also works as a fiscal representative for foreign companies in Belgium.

He has worked as a lawyer in Germany, as well as for prominent, internationally oriented law firms such as Tiberghien and KPMG. Mr Hermie also heads the tax department of our International Desk, where he advises foreign companies on cross-border tax matters.

Mr Hermie’s practice encompasses the full spectrum of indirect taxes, with a particular focus on e-commerce, web shops and the digital economy, construction, property, automotive (including suppliers), heavy industry, industrial plant projects, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and the VAT management of supply chain issues in general. He also has experience in the areas of customs, energy, vehicle excise duty and environmental taxes.

In 2008, Mr Hermie obtained his Master of Laws from the University of Ghent. He then specialised in tax law as part of the Master’s programme (University of Ghent, 2009), before obtaining an LL.M. in international tax law from the International Tax Center in Leiden (Netherlands).

After several years of experience as a tax lawyer in law firms such as Tiberghien and KPMG (in Belgium and Germany), Mr Hermie co-founded our law firm.
