Laura Van Gompel is a seasoned lawyer with an international perspective and a wealth of experience in corporate law, data protection, and international
contracts.

Her journey in the legal world began in Belgium, where she obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Law from the prestigious KU Leuven. However, it was her bold decision to move to Mexico at the age of 21 that marked the beginning of a remarkable career path that bridges continents and cultures.

For nearly a decade, Laura immersed herself in the Mexican legal landscape, working at the renowned law firm “Von Wobeser y Sierra”. During her time there, she provided counsel to prominent clients such as Grupo Modelo, Motorola Solutions, Tequila Don Julio, Jugos del Valle, Santander, and Coca-Cola FEMSA.

Her expertise and dedication soon led her to a pivotal role as the head of the legal department at the family office of the shareholder of Grupo Liverpool,
Mexico’s largest publicly listed retail company. Between 2017 and 2019, Laura further honed her skills and insights as she served as an assistant to the head of the legal department at Sony Mexico.

Throughout her career, she has cultivated an intimate understanding of the Mexican business landscape, mastering the intricacies of Spanish and Latin American legal and business cultures. Laura’s proficiency extends beyond her legal acumen; she is a skilled negotiator, known for her tenacity and effectiveness at the negotiation table. Her specialization in GDPR, data protection, and privacy regulation adds an invaluable dimension to her legal repertoire.

Laura speaks Dutch, Spanish, English, French, and German. She is uniquely positioned to assist both Belgian and international clients seeking to navigate the complex web of Spanish-speaking markets.
